Red Original ~24 hr Bike Packing Adventure

Two bikes stopped by a river on an overnight adventure. Bags packed with tents, snacks, swimming stuff

An overnight adventure on the Isle of Wight which felt like we had been away for days.

We collaborated with Red Original to create UGC of their new waterproof roll top bags, insulated drink bottles, waterproof jackets and zip pouches in use on a bike packing adventure. Red is predominantly known for being a paddleboard brand however their equipment can be used across a variety of sports. We wanted to put it to the test on an overnight bike packing adventure and see if we could fit everything we needed on our bikes with Red’s kit.

We packed our bikes with all the essentials - our Red Original dry bags strapped to our bike forks full of tent, gas stove, roll mats, snacks and sporks. Our mugs strapped wherever they wouldn’t get in the way, towels on our crossbars and little bags for suncream and snacks on the handlebars!

We set off from Cowes on the north of the island and cycled west towards the beautiful creeks and waterways of Newtown. We weaved our wave through the green tunnels of country roads towards Yarmouth stopping for a snack and coffee brewed on our stove on the waters edge. We ended our day at Bouldnor beach on the edge of the forest’s Nature reserve. It was the perfect quiet spot to camp where the tide leaves JUST enough room to pitch a tent and you can take a dip before bed. You couldn’t sleep much closer to the water if your tried!

It was an amazing 24 hour adventure and is incredible what you can do and see in such a short space of time, especially on your bike. The freedom to stop wherever you fancy and pitch up whenever you like. We were only away for 24 hours but we felt like we had been away for a long weekend break. I highly recommended planning your own adventure and if your looking for a location then the Isle of Wight is a great one although don’t underestimate the hills!
