Water Cinematography
At GlobalShots we specialise in capturing both in water photography and video content.. We have worked on a variety of ‘in-water’ projects from capturing surf, swim and windsurf athletes to larger brand campaigns featuring immersive water scenes. We love the alternative perspective, the energy and the more intimate feel that water photography and water cinematography offer.
The beginnings
Our Co - Founder and DP Jay Haysey is our specialist water camera operator. He has shot video and photography in-water for over 10 years honing his skills in seas, rivers and mountain lakes to swimming pools and man made in-land surf lakes.
His passion for water photography started over a decade ago in Maui when he travelled there for a holiday with friends, his windsurf kit, camera and waterhousing. He ended up most days at the famous Ho’okipa beach park, swimming amongst the waves, rips and currents capturing professional windsurfers and practicing the art of water photography. He continues to develop and push his skills today and loves the alternative perspective, the energy and the more intimate feel shooting in the water brings. Jay currently shoots with our RED camera set up and SALTY water housing.
Safety
Safety is a foremost concern when shooting in water especially in coastal areas. We have a wide knowledge of the sea, tides, and safety procedures to reduce the risk in such locations. From our background in watersports instruction we have first aid and powerboat qualifications as well as extensive knowledge of tide, wind and weather. When planning in-water shoots we always put safety at the forefront of a production.
